A document which provides a clear approach to equality and diversity has been given the seal of approval of Denbighshire County Council.
The council’s Equalities Plan has been adopted after being approved by Denbighshire councillors meeting in County Hall, Ruthin on December 1.
The document sets out practical steps the council needs to take to improve performance on equal opportunities in its dealings with staff and the wider community.
Councillor Rhiannon Hughes, Cabinet Lead Member for Personnel and Business Management, said: “Equality is not just about meeting a legal obligation: it is also about fairness and good sense, and a moral duty to challenge discrimination.
“The purpose of the Corporate Equalities Plan is to make a commitment to take the needs of everyone into account in everything we do, whether that’s providing services, employing people, developing policies, communicating or consulting.
“The council is committed to ensuring no one is discriminated against by the council, because of their age, disability, gender, race, marital status, nationality, preferred language, religion, belief or sexual orientation.
