Families will be able to enjoy another FREE event next month, which aims to celebrate the varied rural activities that can be found across Caerphilly county borough.
The Festival of Rural Skills, taking place at Llancaiach Fawr in Nelson on Sunday 25th September, will provide a fantastic opportunity for visitors to sample local produce, as well as take part in a variety of traditional country activities such as dry stone walling, sheepdog trials, wool spinning, pottery and even turning a tree into a piece of furniture!
As well as these more familiar skills, visitors can also enjoy ‘up-cycling’ jewellery workshops, chocolate truffle demonstrations, a range of children’s activities and live foot-stomping music and dance, courtesy of the Shoestring Band and Isca Morris men.
The event is being organised by the Caerffili Cwm a Mynydd RDP partnership through Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Countryside and Landscape Service, and will also includes a traditional open air Harvest Festival in the courtyard.
With the Caerphilly county borough being 80% countryside, the event hopes to showcase what is on offer in our rural areas and its relevance to all of us.
The festival starts at 10am and runs until 4pm.
Llancaiach Fawr is on Bus Route X38 and the postcode is CF46 6ER for those people using satnav. There is a £3 charge for car parking.
