Appeal for information – Robbery, Moorland Park, Newport

Gwent Police is appealing for information after a taxi driver was robbed in the Moorland Park area of Newport.

The incident occurred at approximately 2.30am on Tuesday 30th August.

The 32 year old male taxi driver, driving a silver Toyota Corolla Verso, picked up two men on Corporation Road and took them, as requested, to Moorland Park in Lliswerry. On arrival one of them leaned forward, threatened the driver with a knife and demanded his takings and mobile phone.

A small amount of cash and a HTC mobile phone were handed over, and then the two men made off on foot through the Moorland Park housing estate.

The taxi driver was left shaken and with a scratch to his hand.

Male one (pictured in the above) is described as white, aged in his late 20s/early 30s, of thin build and approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall. He had narrow eyes, a pale complexion and blonde/light brown eyebrows. He was wearing a brown Adidas hooded jumper and wore the hood up.  He spoke with a local accent.

Male two is described as white, aged 20-25, of athletic build and approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall. He had short dark ruffled hair. He was wearing a blue hooded Adidas tracksuit top which was zipped up over his chin and also spoke with a local accent.
