Denbighshire County Council’s Street Lighting team has been working in partnership with town and community councils to light up communities county wide and get people into the festive spirit.
The council has held regular meetings with town/community councils throughout the year to discuss designs and costings and arranging for the lights to be installed, in preparation for the Christmas festivities. The town/community councils fund all the necessary repairs and installation costs.
A Christmas competition was recently launched, in partnership with Blachere Illumination, which involves children submitting designs for Christmas lights with the winner and runner-up chosen by each town council taking part (Rhyl and Denbigh took part in 2009). The lights are then manufactured and installed. Ruthin will be introducing this scheme next year.
The council has worked with the following town and community councils: Rhyl, Prestatyn, Dyserth, Meliden, Rhuddlan, St Asaph, Denbigh, Ruthin and Corwen.
