Holyhead lifeboat launches to damaged fishing boat

Holyhead Coastguard requested the launch of Holyhead all-weather lifeboat to assist a fishing vessel 20 miles west of Holyhead.

The vessel was in collision with a tanker and was left with damage to accommodation and loss of a derrick.

None of the three crew on board were injured in the collision.

Holyhead lifeboat and her volunteer crew were tasked with checking the fishing vessel for damage and assisting in anyway they could, after which after the fishing vessel was to make her way to Wicklow in Ireland.

The Irish coast guard requested the launch of Wicklow lifeboat to escort the vessel in to harbour.

The tanker involved was due to arrive at Milford Haven at about 12pm.

Holyhead lifeboat was expected back at 11am.
