Liverpool Coastguard requested Flint RNLI lifeboat to launch to a fishing boat that had its net caught on a submerged buoy north of Flintshire Bridge.
The lifeboat and its volunteer crew went by road to launch from the Ski Club at Connahs Quay, having received the call at 1.30pm; reaching the fishing boat at 2pm. It took the lifeboat crew four attempts to release the nets in very difficult conditions.
The nets freed, and because of a fast-ebbing tide as well as insufficient engine power, the crew of the fishing boat requested a tow back to their moorings at Connahs Quay Docks. A tow was connected and the fishing boat was placed safely back on its moorings.
A spokesman from Flint RNLI lifeboat station commented the volunteer crew did an excellent job in difficult conditions.
