Commenting on the Welsh Government’s review of qualifications for 14-19 year olds, Angela Burns AM, Shadow Minister for Education, said:
“After a series of damning reports into education standards in Wales, it is reasonable to ensure that the qualifications open to young people are suitably robust.
“What matters most to prospective employers is that school-leavers are proficient in the key skills of literacy and numeracy and that their qualifications are a meaningful assessment of their abilities.
“This review must ensure that young people have the choice to determine their own career path and that both academic and vocational qualifications are recognised as rewarding career options.”
