Mayor Hits the Jackpot at Bingo

Rhondda Cynon Taf Mayor, Cllr Sylvia Jones, has picked up a bumper cheque during a ‘day at the bingo.’

Her lucky numbers came up when she went along to meet supporters at the Castle Bingo complex at Nantgarw.

The county’s first citizen was delighted to receive a cheque for £2,000, which was raised by kind-hearted customers who were invited to donate their loose change.

The money was raised over the course of several weeks and is once again proof of the commitment Castle Bingo shows to Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Mayoral charities.

The firm has been one of the most dedicated supporters of the cause and presents a cheque annually.

Cllr Sylvia Jones attended the Castle Leisure complex to receive the latest cheque and thank all the staff and customers for their overwhelming generosity.

The money donated this year will provide a welcome boost for the Mayor’s six chosen charities, which are Viva Wales; RCT Crossroads; Rhondda Powerhouse Trust (Llwynypia); Mid Glamorgan Operatic Society; GTFM Community Radio (Taff Ely); and Colstars Youth Theatre (Cynon Valley).

Mayor Cllr Jones said: “I cannot thank the staff and customers of Castle Bingo enough and am so pleased we have such supportive organisations as this in our area.

“Castle Bingo donates money that has been donated by their audiences – our residents – every year and it really is appreciated.

“The collections before and after games of bingo raise much-needed money, every penny of which is donated to the six worthwhile causes I have chosen this year.”

Mayor, Cllr Sylvia Jones, is urging other companies and organisations to follow in the footsteps of Castle Bingo and help raise money for the Mayor’s charities.
