A Big Lottery Fund award for a Pentrefoelas community project has been welcomed by their local Assembly Member.
Aberconwy based ‘Action for Achievement’ has been awarded nearly £5,000 towards getting local the community involved in creating a Giant of Conwy which will represent Wales in the Festival of Giants held in Chester in June 2012. The money will provide workshops and resources for the communities of Ysbyty Ifan and Pentrefoelas to create their very own Giant to take part in the annual festival. Action for Achievement received their award under the Big Lottery Fund’s small grants programme, ‘Awards For All’.
Commenting on the award, Assembly Member for Clwyd West Darren Millar said:
“This is great news for Pentrefoelas.
“The Big Lottery Fund’s award will provide a golden opportunity for both young and older people in the rural community of Pentrefoelas to work together on this exciting project.
“My warm congratulations to all those who have worked hard to ensure a successful bid.”
