Welsh Conservatives welcome Powys Councillor from Lib Dems

Andrew RT Davies AM, Leader of the Welsh Conservatives in the National Assembly, has welcomed Councillor Richard White to the Welsh Conservative Party after he left the Liberal Democrat group on Powys County Council.

Cllr White, who represents Newtown East ward on the authority, said he looks forward to working with Russell George AM, Glyn Davies MP and the Welsh Conservative team in Powys.

Andrew RT Davies, said, “I am delighted to welcome Cllr Richard White to the Welsh Conservatives.

“Cllr White will make a great addition to a successful Welsh Conservative team, which has made considerable gains in Powys in recent years with the election of Glyn Davies MP and Russell George AM.

“Cllr White’s move to the Welsh Conservatives is representative of a wider shift in public opinion in Powys to support a party determined to stand up for the people of Wales.”

Russell George, AM for Montgomeryshire, said, “Cllr Richard White is an effective and hardworking Councillor, who will complement a strong team for Powys on the county council.

“Welsh Conservatives have fought hard for local people on school funding, vital transport links and protecting our natural environment from the threat of windfarm developments.  I look forward to working with Cllr White in the interests of the people of Montgomeryshire.”
