Armistice Day Marked at City Hall

Cardiff Council Leader Rodney Berman, Chief Executive Jon House and Trade Union representatives will mark Armistice Day on Friday, November 11 by laying wreaths at City Hall as a tribute to all council staff that lost their lives in battle.

A two minute silence will be observed at 11am to remember all those that lost their lives during the First and Second World Wars, as well as all other conflicts involving our Armed Forces since 1945.

The Honorary Chaplain to the Council, Reverend Stewart Lisk will open proceedings with a Bidding Prayer, following which the two minute silence will be observed.  At 11.02am, the Honorary Chaplain will ask the Chief Executive, followed by members of the Trade Unions, and finally the Leader of the Council to lay wreaths, culminating in Reverend Lisk giving a Blessing.

A two minute silence will also be marked across all council buildings at 11am.

Cardiff Council Leader, Cllr Rodney Berman, said: “Alongside playing host to The National Service of Remembrance for Wales on November 13, it’s essential that Armistice Day is also observed in Cardiff on the 11th of November. During both services we will remember those who made the greatest sacrifice.”
