Ballet Theatre UK is delighted to present its all-new production of Hans Christian Andersen’s classic fairytale, The Snow Queen, at Theatr Mwldan, Cardigan on 6th and 7th December at 7.30p.m.
Ballet Theatre UK is a new and inventive classical dance company, with a bold and unique approach to creating new theatre productions and raising the awareness of dance. The company’s aim is to engage their audiences with a passion and energy that is truly inspiring; we invite them back to Theatr Mwldan by popular demand following their warmly received production of The Nutcracker which visited the venue last December.
Ballet Theatre UK was founded by Artistic Director, Christopher Moore, and has fast become one of the UK’s best-loved mid-scale touring ballet companies.
‘I’ve taken inspiration from an eclectic mix of classical dance, theatre, popular culture and literature to develop this new production as an interpretation of traditional classical ballet… The Snow Queen is a seasonal addition to the company’s repertoire to compliment the popularity of The Nutcracker’ says Artistic Director Christopher Moore, ‘the production is set in a rural Scandinavian village caught in the grip of the Snow Queen’s spell of eternal winter, along with the captivating score this tale promises to whisk the audience away on a festive fantasy adventure’.
Moore continues ‘Andersen’s original text features many wonderful characters and themes which have become the central inspiration for the expressive choreography and direction of the production…the process of creating any new ballet, especially one with a narrative theme, is an excellent way to challenge and develop the company….The Snow Queen has given the dancers an extensive range of characters to portray in both a technical and dramatic context’. This is most definitely a ballet to showcase this spectacular company.
BTUK believes in the importance of creating new full-length ballets which appeal to a wide range of people from all walks of life. Seeking out new audiences and regularly touring throughout the UK and overseas, they hope to bring British classical ballet to a wider audience.
