Commenting on the publication of reports by the Wales Audit Office into governance and financial failings at several South Wales Community Councils, Janet Finch-Saunders AM, Shadow Minister for Local Government, said:
“These reports highlight the need for greater openness and transparency in local democracy.
“In times of austerity, local residents expect greater accountability from their elected representatives at all levels.
“Community Councils across Wales should examine what steps they can take to improve confidence by publishing full details of spending including expenses.”
