Denbighshire preparing for winter highway maintenance

Denbighshire County Council’s winter maintenance teams are geared-up to deal with any severe winter weather predicted for the coming months.

Council staff regularly monitor weather forecasts and deploy gritters when snow or icy conditions are forecast.

The Council has also taken delivery of stocks of salt, ready to treat the county’s roads and keep motorists moving as much as possible.

The Council has a priority order for the clearance of ice and snow:

  • Main A and B routes
  • Access roads to hospital and emergency service stations
  • The remainder of the precautionary salting network
  • Other routes known as urgent medical and important industrial routes
  • Access to public facilities – cemeteries, schools etc
  • Other Class 2 and 3 roads providing access to communities
  • Remaining bus and milk collection routes
  • Other urban routes
  • Other rural roads
  • Roads serving isolated dwellings
  • Other roads

The council also treats pavements wherever possible, but cannot treat every single road and pavement in the county.
