A woman who has been awarded a commemorative badge in recognition of her services at Bletchley Park during the Second World War has received the congratulations of Vale of Glamorgan Mayor Cllr Emlyn Williams.
A resident of Tower Hill Residential Home, Penarth, London-born Mrs Betty Sander is 93 years old and served at The Government Code and Cypher School from June, 1940, to the end of the war. Mrs Sander married Ronald Sander in June, 1945, and the family have lived in the South Wales area since moving to Cardiff in 1960.
Cllr Williams said: “Mrs Sander and the thousands of people who worked at Bletchley Park and its outstations played a vital part in the war effort and the award of a commemorative badge is fitting recognition of their loyal service.”
