Gwent Police is to hold its first Passing Out Parade this week as a group of new recruits graduate from their training.
Senior Officers, dignitaries and family members will be there to watch the eleven officers march out on Friday, December 11, and then be inspected by the Chief Constable.
The students joined the force earlier this year. After completing their initial training programme they will now continue to be assessed through their two year probationary period, during which time they must achieve a Level 3 Diploma qualification in Basic Policing.
The parade is the event which recognises the end of their initial training and the start of their policing career – the eleven officers have been posted to various roles and locations across the force.
Chief Constable Mick Giannassi said: “This Ceremonial Parade is an important event reflecting the hard work and dedication these officers have already demonstrated.
“They have already engaged with the community during their training, gaining experience through role play and practical exercises.
“We welcome these new officers to the force, their addition will increase the number of frontline officers serving our communities and I look forward to working with them.”
