Good news for Pwllheli Library

Gwynedd Council’s Libraries Service has introduced longer opening hours at Pwllheli Library for a trial period until June. It is hoped the revised opening times will become permanent if enough use is made of the extended hours.

Pwllheli Library is already one of the busiest in Gwynedd, and the new arrangements mean that more people can use the facility – for the first time ever it will be open over lunchtime and on a Saturday afternoon.

Pwllheli Library’s revised opening hours are:

Monday – 10am-7pm
Tuesday – 10am-1pm
Wednesday – 10am-7pm
Thursday – 10am-1pm
Friday – 10am-5pm
Saturday – 10am-5pm

Hywel James, Gwynedd Council’s Principal Librarian, said: “We have extended the opening hours after a survey showed that local people wanted the library to be open for longer.

Pwllheli Library is already very popular with the people of Pwllheli and those living in Llŷn and Eifionydd. We are now urging people to continue to support the facility so that this extended service can become a permanent arrangement.”

Councillor Alwyn Gruffydd, Gwynedd Council’s Customer Care Portfolio Leader, who is responsible for libraries services, said: “If people haven’t been to their local library before, or haven’t been for a while, why not make a new year’s resolution to call by and see what is on offer.

Gwynedd libraries are modern and welcoming places which are suitable for children and adults of all ages, with a wide range of books available to borrow free of charge, computers for public use and DVDs and CDs to hire for a small fee.”
