Students petition for free bus travel

Students at a North Wales college have called for free bus travel for those under 25 and in full-time education.

Clwyd West AM Darren Millar was presented with a petition calling for the free transport during a visit to Coleg Llandrillo in Rhos-on-Sea last week. The petition was signed by 15 students from the College.

Commenting on the petition, Darren Millar AM said;

“It is encouraging to see students campaigning for issues which they feel strongly about, and bringing these matters to the attention of an elected representative.

“For many students, travel by bus is the only way they can access their place of education. Pupils from rural environments are even more reliant on suitable and efficient public transport.

“There is certainly merit in the National Assembly considering this proposal.”

Darren Millar has written to the Chair of the Petitions Committee in the National Assembly for Wales asking them to consider the matter.
