Montgomeryshire Assembly Member, Russell George, said he was unhappy that the Transport Minister had still not made a decision over the future of the Dyfi Bridge, near Machynlleth.
During weekly Ministerial Questions, Mr George challenged the Minister to confirm that the bridge over the Dyfi was still a Government priority and when a decision will be made on a way forward.
Responding, Mr Sargeant said that the bridge had not ‘dropped off’ the Government’s agenda and that a decision on a way forward was still being made.
Comment, Mr George said:
“I raised the future of the Dyfi Bridge with the Minister back in October and he told me then that a decision on a preferred way forward was under consideration”
“I cannot understand why the Minister is still dithering over this issue.
“There needs to be clarity from the Minister on his plans for the future of this key crossing over the Afon Dyfi and we need it with the upmost of urgency.
“This failure to act is just consigning the Dyfi Valley and its residents to more inconvenience, disruption and indeed potentially life threatening delays.”
