Sport Relief is back and it’s coming to Deeside and Holywell

The Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile is back – and this year Flintshire is hosting two events; one in Deeside and one in Holywell!

Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile is on Sunday 25 March, and this will be the second time the event has been taken on by Flintshire County Council.

Entrants don’t have to be sporty to take part, but can choose to complete 1, 3 or 6 miles, knowing that all the money raised will help to change the lives of people living unimaginably tough lives right here on our doorstep, across the rest of the UK and in some of the world’s poorest countries.

The Deeside event will be setting off from North Wales Indoor Athletics Centre (Deeside College), and the one mile route will be contained on the athletics track, with the three and six mile course taking a more challenging marshalled route through Kelsterton Lane. In Holywell, the Holywell High School miles will all be contained on the school grounds. Both are set to be incredible events.

Craige Bowles, Physical Activity Officer at Flintshire County Council, said: “This year we are running two events in the county, one in partnership with Deeside College and one at Holywell High School. This will give residents of Flintshire more opportunities to change people’s lives at home and across the world’s poorest countries by raising money with The Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile. From teeny-tots with their mums and dads, to super sprinters up against the clock there’s something for everyone on the big day. Both events will be thriving with lots going on for all the family. So come on, pull your Sport Relief socks up, enter the Mile and do something amazing!”

We need local people to come together and show their support; to enter the ‘Flintshire Mile’ (Deeside Athletics Centre) or the Holywell Mile (Holywell High School), visit www.sportrelief.com. As one of the UK’s biggest fundraising events, Sport Relief brings the entire nation together to get active, raise cash and change lives – so it’s time to dust off those trainers and enter right now.
