Montgomeryshire Assembly Member, Russell George, has welcomed the announcement made by the Business Minister that government officials will be exploring Local Growth Zones in Powys to stimulate economic development in Mid Wales.
Commenting on the statement, Mr George said:
“This is very positive news for Powys and certainly a good start in boosting economic development in Powys.
“I think the recent meetings I have had with the Minister along with other stakeholders in the region, specifically Powys County Council, has helped the Minister make this decision today.
“Although we are still in the early stages of developing the innovative proposals, which will include small business development in Newtown, I believe this could potentially be the shot in the arm that Powys so badly needs.”
