There’s still time to catch this summer’s stunning exhibitions at Swansea’s Glynn Vivian Art Gallery.
The Russian Linesman by Mark Wallinger, an exciting collection of historical pieces by various artists which examines how boundaries and our perceptions can shift, is available until Sunday September 20.
It includes Wallinger’s own work- an unmistakable life-sized mirrored sculpture of Doctor Who’s TARDIS.
The Swansea Open is also available until Saturday September 12.
Each year sees a diverse range of work submitted and 2009 was no exception with hundreds of entries from both professional and amateur artists.
And there’s something to keep the younger visitors entertained too at the Gallery thanks to a detective-style trail where children of all ages can follow the clues and take a closer look at the selected works on display.
Swansea Council runs the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery.
Gallery Curator Jenni Spencer-Davies said: “The Gallery has been such a busy place over the last month.
“We’ve had children’s art workshops and a variety of interesting events and the popular Swansea Open has brought a whole range of people through our doors.”
And there’s plenty more to come. The Gallery will be launching a series of art workshops for children of all ages starting this month and little ones will get the chance to show off their own creative talents thanks to monthly art competitions.
Art classes are also being organised for adults every Saturday afternoon from October and a Big Draw event is being held during the next school half-term from October 27 to October 31.
