Denbighshire school’s governing body honoured for quality

A Denbighshire school has been presented with  the Bronze Quality Mark for governing bodies.

Ysgol Esgob Morgan, St Asaph is the first school in Denbighshire to achieve the award and it was presented by Welsh Government Minister Leighton Andrews at the recent North Wales Conference for Governors.

To achieve the mark, the Governing Body was required to collate evidence to support the work of the Governing Body,. This work was undertaken by headteacher Tim Redgrave and Emma Safhill, a parent governor at the school.

Emma Safhill said: “I found the experience to be an extremely positive one and it has certainly made me more aware of the requirements of a governing body and what is expected of us as governors. I feel very proud to be part of the governing body having achieved this award and we will now aim to achieve the silver standard.”

Headteacher Tim Redgrave, said: “We are extremely pleased to receive this award in recognition of the excellent work carried out by the governing body. The governors play an integral part in the way the school is run and they work closely with management, staff, pupils and parents to aim for the best possible education at Esgob Morgan for current and future pupils.”
