First Minister must see YouTube decline of town, says AM

Montgomeryshire Assembly Member, Russell George AM, has told the First Minister to see the rapid decline of Newtown through a YouTube video that has been posted by a local resident.

The comments were made by Mr George during weekly questions to the First Minister, after he asked Mr Jones what the Welsh Government was doing to strengthen the economy of Mid Wales.

Mr George said:

“I am obviously grateful to the Business Minister for examining the potential development of Business Growth Zones in Mid Wales but the Government needs to get on with it because towns like Newtown are rapidly turning into ghost towns.

“The fact is that there are a number of businesses closing their doors on a weekly basis and the video posted by one local resident known as Cut Pryce, has really put the economy of the town into perspective.

“I recommend that the First Minister look at the YouTube video because it clearly demonstrates the need for urgent action to stop the town’s decline.”
