UCAC to decide on Pension deal

UCAC education union is launching a consultation with members on the latest pension offer from the Westminster government.

UCAC has not signed the Government’s agreement as it considers the offer to be too detrimental to teachers, lecturers and to the education system itself. The union has remained determined to reach a negotiated settlement.

On 24 February UCAC’s National Executive will meet in Aberystwyth to reach a decision about the Government’s offer, taking into account the results of the members’ survey.

UCAC members can response to the survey online or by post, and the union has designated Wednesday, 15 February as ‘Pensions Enquiry Day’ for members who have queries about the Government’s offer and how it will affect them.

Elaine Edwards, UCAC’s General Secretary said “Members’ views will be key to deciding on the next steps in this crucial campaign. The Government’s proposals will affect the vast majority of teachers in Wales whatever their age. That’s why I’m encouraging members at all stages of their careers to let us know their opinion within the next week.”
