Cardiff Council is consulting on a proposed environmental improvement scheme for Salisbury Road in Cathays.
The junction of Salisbury Road, Lowther Road and Miskin Street is in need of upgrading and has been earmarked for a series of environmental improvements.
These will tackle various issues on the junction which is difficult to cross for pedestrians and cyclists because of the car-dominated layout.
Some of the paving is also in a poor state of repair and the junction has been identified as a key area for improvement though the Council’s Neighbourhood Renewal Schemes programme.
An exhibition trailer will be on site for three days this week giving people the opportunity to look at the plans and give their views and comments on the proposals.
The exhibition trailer will be at the junction between Salisbury Road and Miskin Street on Thursday, February 23 from 3pm to 6.30pm; Friday, February 24 from 9am to 12noon and Saturday, February 25 from 10am to 1pm.
Executive member for Communities, Housing and Social Justice, Councillor Judith Woodman, said: “This junction is in an important area linking several key destinations such as student residential areas to the university buildings and residential areas with the city centre.
“Due to the current lay out it is not easy for people to cross the junction and difficult to negotiate for cyclists. Double parking and illegal parking on Salisbury Road are common and the proposed designs are aimed at tackling these problems and to visually improve the area generally.”
She added: “I urge anyone who is interested to come and see the designs for themselves and leave their comments to feedback into the scheme.”
