Pupils and staff at a Vale of Clwyd school are celebrating after receiving its latest Estyn school inspection report.
Inspectors noted that the current performance at Ysgol Bro Cinmeirch, Llanrhaeadr was good, with good prospects for further improvement.
The inspection said:
- Most pupils are making good progress during their period at the school
- There is an excellent ethos that contributes very effectively to attendance and high standards of behaviour, and a feeling of staff and pupil’s pride in their Welshness
- Planning, teaching and assessment are robust and the whole staff work together well and effectively in a way that positively influences pupils’ achievements.
It adds that the prospects for improvement are good because
- The headteacher has a clear vision and she conveys that vision successfully to staff, pupils and governors
- The school knows its own performance well
- There is excellent collaboration with partners to improve the provision.
The inspection also noted two areas of excellence:
- The Learning Environment which is of a very high quality, with a welcoming, happy and all-inclusive atmosphere
- Partnership working – it was noted that the school’s strategies to improve Welsh is sector leading.
The report did acknowledge three recommendations to further improve: to ensure a further increase in the proportion of pupils who reach the higher levels; to provide more opportunities for pupils to develop into independent learners and to further develop pupil’ understanding of what they need to do in order to improve their work.
Mrs Gwennol A. Ellis, Headteacher said: “We are delighted with the findings of the report. We are proud of our achievements at Ysgol Bro Cinmeirch . All staff work together as a team. We are especially pleased that the inspection identified our strong working links with parents and the local community.
“We will not become complacent and we will work on the recommendations made to further improve education in our school.
