Celebrating World Book Day: Literature Wales’ Book Hunt

Children and adults come together in over one hundred different countries on World Book Day to celebrate authors, illustrators, and the magic of reading. It’s celebrated by swapping books, dressing up as favourite characters and all kinds of book-related activities and as ever, Literature Wales is taking part in the fun. Designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, this is the fifteenth year of the large celebration.

This year, World Book Day is even more special in Wales than anywhere else in the world, because it’s happening on St David’s Day.  Taking St David’s vision of doing the little things in life as inspiration, Literature Wales has prepared a little present for Wales’ readers.

Literature Wales has scattered hundreds of books beautifully wrapped in brown paper and string in various venues across Wales, as gifts to those lucky enough to find them. In Alice in Wonderland Alice was enticed with parcels labelled Eat me and Drink me; this World Book Day Literature Wales will be enticing you with parcels labelled Read me.

You can join the fun by contributing to the World Book Day discussion on Twitter. And how about trying to review your new book in a tweet? Use the hashtag #ReadMe to connect with other lucky book-finders.  Let the literary treasure hunt begin.
