Owners and leaseholders of little used and redundant buildings in rural Monmouthshire may benefit from an exciting new grant scheme delivered by the county council over the coming year.
Funded by the Welsh Government’s Rural Development Plan for Wales, the Rural Conversion Grant Scheme will support the development of new and existing microbusinesses in rural areas through financial support for the conversion of redundant and underutilised buildings.
The scheme will provide nine grants within the county of up to £30,000. These will enable capital improvements resulting in conversions suitable for office or workshop accommodation which support the diversification of business beyond agriculture, forestry and tourism.
Monmouthshire’s Special Projects Manager Colin Phillips said: “This is a wonderful opportunity for owners, long leaseholders and microbusinesses to access support which will improve the sustainability of rural areas through diversification of business facilities. The scheme will help deliver premises that contribute to new and existing business growth, including the creation of 18 new jobs”.
