A very special story time

As part of World Book Day celebrations, Gwynedd Council’s Library Service held a special story time session at Caernafron Library on 1 March.

Angharad Tomos, the author of the well-loved Rwdlan books, came over to share a ‘picnic in the woods’ story time with the children. The children were very happy to watch Angharad drawing pictures of the characters from the book, and hearing stories about their adventures.

The children then had a real feast and a chance to taste all kinds of treats at the library’s picnic, which was enjoyed in the “forest”, which is a new art arch designed by Lois Prysor and a new entrance to the Children’s Section at Caernarfon Library. The arch will be used to display art work by children who live in the area in the future.

Hywel James, Gwynedd Council’s Principal Librarian said:

“I am very pleased about all the successful events which took place across Gwynedd as part of World Book Day. It has developed into an important annual event which promotes the importance of reading and encourages the people of Gwynedd to make the most of this wonderful facilities which is available to them at all Gwynedd libraries.

“It is extremely important that Gwynedd residents make regular use of their libraries. Public libraries are a very important facility, which ensures that Gwynedd residents get the best value for money.”

A special colouring competition is also currently open to all children at Caernarfon Library with a chance to win four Rwdlan resource packs signed by Angharad Tomos. The closing date of the competition is 16 March 2012.
