Plaid Cymru AM Lindsay Whittle has pressed the case to ensure that community health councils are properly funded.
The South Wales East AM raised the issue during questions to Health Minister Lesley Griffiths.
Lindsay Whittle pressed the minister, asking: “What assurances can you give that an important part of the review of CHCs will be a reassessment of their funding, which, as you will be aware, was seriously reduced as a result of the NHS reorganisation in 2009?”
The Minister said: “All aspects of the CHCs will be considered in the review including funding, governance, performance, so that will be in that review process as we take it through.”
After the Plaid AM added: “Community health councils perform a very important role on the behalf of patients so it is vital that they are probably funded.”
