Literature comes to life for school’s World Book Day

Peter Pan, the Mad Hatter and even Big Bird from Sesame Street put in an appearance as pupils of Howells School, Denbigh, entered into the spirit of World Book Day.

Not only did they hold a charity Readathon in aid of the National Dyslexia Society, but they dressed up as characters from literature for the occasion.

Howells School Academic Principal Emma Jones said: “The teachers and pupils – and even office staff – went to great lengths to find wonderful costumes to illustrate characters from their favourite books.

“It was a lot of fun for everyone and all in a very good cause.”

The winners of house points were Tilly Buckley (Prep), Shannon Pritchard (Tears 7-9), Molly Thomas (Y10-11) and Emma Jones (Sixth Form and to date their efforts have raised over £100.
