The Bishop of St Asaph, the Rt. Revd. Gregory Cameron is pleased to announce that the next Vicar for parishes in the Conwy Valley will be the Reverend Sarah Hildreth who will be taking charge of the parishes of Llanrwst and Llanddoged with Capel Garmon, with Llansanffraid Glan Conwy and Eglwysbach.
She will be welcomed to her new ministry in a special service led by Bishop Gregory and the Archdeacon of St Asaph, the Ven. Chris Potter on May 1st, 2012 at St Grwst’s Church, Llanrwst at 1900hr.
Sarah was born and brought up in Denbigh and for 11 years worked in Ysgol Plas Brondyffryn, Denbigh, a school for children on the Autistic Spectrum as well as those with speech and language difficulties and behavioural issues. Although thoroughly enjoying her time doing this, she was selected for training for ordained ministry in 2003 and subsequently spent two years at St Michael’s College, Llandaff. Following ordination she served for three and a half years in Hawarden before becoming Vicar in Bagillt and Mostyn in 2008, where she has particularly enjoyed working in the local schools and serving as Governor in one of them.
Speaking about her new appointment Sarah Hildreth says,
‘I am very much looking forward to moving to the Conwy Valley and getting to know the people in the four communities that I will be serving. It is a place that I have visited often throughout my life and consider it a privilege to have been called to serve the people in that area.’
In welcoming this new appointment within the Diocese of St Asaph, Bishop Gregory says,
‘I am delighted that Sarah has accepted the opportunities and challenges of ministry in the Conwy Valley. The valley is a rich cultural area in our diocese, where Welsh and English come together, and Sarah, as a daughter of the diocese, is well placed to minister to the needs of these parishes. Sarah is a faithful parish priest who enjoys working with people, and who will reach out to the whole community.’
