Powys Conservatives have criticised Nick Clegg for refusing to condemn Powys LibDems for awarding themselves a 40% increase in their allowances. They have again called for the LibDems to apologise to the people of Powys.
After calling for a Council Tax freeze, local Conservatives have criticised the LibDems in County Hall for raising Council Tax above the Welsh average for another year whilst continuing to line their own pockets.
“It is deeply disappointing that Nick Clegg would not condemn his own councillors for awarding themselves such a large increase in their allowances whilst also hiking up Council Tax,” said local Conservative leader, Cllr Aled Davies. “In March we proposed a Council Tax freeze that would have given money back to local families and pensioners and instead local LibDems and Independents want it for themselves.”
