Cardiff Hosts an Oar-Some Event

Cardiff Bay Water Activity Centre (CBWAC) has been appointed by the Welsh Varsity Boat Race to run their annual event, which has been running for seven years.

Every year, Wales’ two premier rowing Universities, Cardiff and Swansea compete against each other for the title of Welsh Varsity Boat Race Champions.

This year’s race will take place on Saturday April 28  on the River Taff in Cardiff. Four races, including both Men’s and Women’s races, will take place between 11:15am and 2:15pm. Each race will start just below the railway arches, opposite Brains Brewery, and finish at the CBWAC Water Taxi stop.

The seventh annual Welsh Varsity Boat Race promises to be an exciting match with Cardiff and Swansea both having top class crews in all categories.

Cardiff International White Water Manager, Chris Hadfield, said: “CBWAC has a strong reputation for running high-profile events. It also provides first class training that helps people of all ages and abilities learn the skills needed to enjoy rowing.

The Welsh Boat Race event is developing every year and its facilities like CBWAC that will ensure that rowing will continue to be one of Britain’s most successful sports.”
