BBC presenter Jules Hudson to open Sport Endurance event in Talacre this Sunday

The horse riding community is joining the celebrations to mark the opening of the Wales Coast Path, with a special event taking place at Talacre Beach this Sunday, April 29.

Flintshire Coastal Rangers and Denbighshire Countryside Service have joined up with Sport Endurance and the British Horse Society, to organise a Prestatyn Beach horse ride. Riders will be able to take part in a range of horse rides, both competitive and non-competitive, with routes ranging from seven to 19 miles in length along a new coastal path link.

Senior Coastal Ranger Mike Taylor said:

“This is one of a number of events taking place to celebrate the opening of the Wales Coast Path, and it’s exciting to see the momentum really building now ready for May 5th! We’re really excited that BBC presenter Jules Hudson is opening this particular event. The first horse is expected out at 10am on Sunday, so Jules will be opening proceedings just before 10. Even if you’re not taking part, we’re encouraging everyone to come along and join the fun!”

More information about Sunday’s events can be found at www.sportendurance.co.uk.

The Wales Coast Path has been developed by the Welsh Government in partnership with the Countryside Council for Wales (CCW), sixteen local authorities and two National Parks.

In addition to funding from the Welsh Government and the coastal local authorities of approximately £2 million per year, the European Regional Development Fund has allocated nearly £4 million over four years to support the project.
