Preparations are well underway to welcome the Olympic Torch Relay to Denbighshire – and we need your help.
Denbighshire County Council, working in partnership with Rhyl Town Council, Rhuddlan Town Council and North Wales Police are gearing up to welcoming people to Rhyl and Rhuddlan to support participants as they travel through both communities as part of the Denbighshire leg of the relay.
The London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay will come into Denbighshire on May 29 from Kinmel Bay and will make its way through parts of Rhyl and into Rhuddlan before it makes its way out of Denbighshire.
The route will follow Wellington Road to the High Street, High Street to the Vale Road Bridge, A525 Vale Road Bridge to Rhuddlan Road. The relay will then leave Rhyl.
It will enter Rhuddlan from the A5151, through Rhyl Road and will finish at Marsh Road.

Residents living in and around Rhyl and Rhuddlan can find out when it will be travelling along their nearest high street, through their town square or past their local village shop.
The Torchbearers confirmed to carry the Flame through Rhyl and Rhuddlan today include those that were successful through the public nomination processes run by LOCOG and the Presenting Partners, Coca Cola, Lloyds TSB and Samsung. LOCOG has endeavoured to slot all community Torchbearers within an hour of their nomination address so family and friends can cheer them on. Each Torchbearer will wear a white and gold uniform which been designed by adidas.
Jamie Groves, Denbighshire’s Head of Leisure, Libraries and Community Development, said: “ The Relay will give residents and members of the surrounding communities in Denbighshire an ideal chance to see the Olympic Flame and witness the spectacle of the Olympic Torch Relay.
“The buzz has already begun and we want as many people as possible to come and show their support. The best way to do so is to line the streets of Rhyl and Rhuddlan and give participants a warm Denbighshire welcome. This is an ideal opportunity to put our county on the map and we are working hard to make this a day to remember for everyone involved.”
