The Wales Book of the Year Award 2012 Short List Announcement

The peaceful town of Brecon will be a rainfall of voices next Thursday night as four renowned poets take to the stage at Theatr Brycheiniog. The evening will be a celebration of the power and the pull of words.

Not only will there be readings from Wales’ Children’s Poet Laureate (Bardd Plant Cymru), Eurig Salisbury, Former Children’s Poet Laureate and adjudicator of Welsh radio poetry programme Talwrn y Beirdd, Ceri Wyn Jones, the National Poet of Wales, Gillian Clarke, and the Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy, Literature Wales will also be announcing The Wales Book of the Year 2012 Short List.

The judges have been reading diligently over the past year and, at last, it is time for us to find out which nine Welsh-language and which nine English-language authors have made it onto the Short List. With a glass of wine and canapés in the Theatre’s Gallery at 7.00 pm you can cast your eye around the room and place your bets on who will be in the running for the title of Wales Book of the Year 2012.

Lleucu Siencyn, Chief Executive, Literature Wales said:
