Cardiff Live Site to Host a Night at the Opera

On Wednesday (May 30), The Cardiff Live Site on The Hayes will show the first of two Royal Opera House performances, Falstaff by Giuseppe Verdi.

Verdi’s scintillating Shakespearian comedy is a feast of romance, intrigue and comic confusion.

This lavish and exciting new production is set to captivate BP Summer Big Screen audiences all over the UK.

Conductor Daniele Gatti is sure to bring an authentic Italian sparkle to a joyful work performed here as part of the World Shakespeare Festival, which is produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company for London 2012 Festival.

The Live Site area will have grandstand seating in place for this event. The first act will start at 7.30pm, with an interval of 30 minutes in between act two and act three, the showing will finish at approximately 10.30pm.

Cabinet Member for Sport, Leisure and Culture, Cllr Huw Thomas said: “Showing performances by renowned companies such as the Royal Opera House is a wonderful way of utilising the Live Site, and brings great culture to the heart of the city.

“This is a great way for Opera and Theatre fans, as well as those new to the genre, to enjoy Shakespeare in a unique outdoor setting.”
