On Thursday 12 July Caerphilly AM Jeff Cuthbert attended the opening of the new Sensory Garden which has been built by GE volunteers for palliative care patients at Ysbwty Ystrad Fawr. The garden opening, which is part of the Palliative Care Day Unit at the hospital, was attended by GE Aviation Vice President Tony Aiello, GE Wales volunteers and staff, members of the Aneurin Bevan Local Health Board, staff from St David’s Foundation and other members of the community.
It’s hoped that the garden will be a place that patients of all ages and abilities and their friends and family, can go to have enjoyment and respite. The event included singing by the GE Aviation choir, tea, cakes and a ribbon cutting to celebrate the hard work of everyone who has put in their time, resources and efforts to make the project a success.
