There are some exciting new initiatives arriving at the Welsh Wildlife Centre in Cilgerran in the next nine months. Last week they had an osprey platform installed on the marshes to encourage a visiting osprey to nest and in the next two weeks a large butterfly willow maze will be created on the meadow in front of the visitor centre.
In the spring they are also creating another wonderful willow sculpture by the astonishingly talented willow artist Michelle Cain and we will be establishing a showcase wildlife garden alongside the picnic area.
We are holding a community open day on Sunday 25th November so that you can come along and see for yourself what is happening on your nature reserve at the Teifi Marshes. There will be a silent auction to help raise funds for the Wildlife, Wicker and Walks project on the day. Some of the auction items on offer are a family ticket to a Scarlet’s league match, a mid-week break at Bluestone, a three-night stay on Skokholm Island or our character mascot ‘Pertwee the Puffin’ to visit your child’s birthday party, plus lots more.
Fun, free children’s activities on the day and a guided walk at 2pm with the Teifi Marshes warden to show you the osprey platform and talk about the long awaited return of our buffalo.
