People in Gwynedd will join with thousands the world over this month to remember the innocent victims of genocides which plague modern history.
A service of remembrance will be held at Neuadd Reichel, Bangor University on Friday 25 January 2013 to mark Holocaust Memorial Day.
Holocaust Memorial Day commemorates the loss of life by genocide during the Second World War and during later conflicts in Cambodia, Bosnia, Rwanda and Darfur.
Holocaust Memorial Day aims to motivate people to ensure that the horrendous crimes committed during the Holocaust and in more recent genocides, are neither forgotten nor repeated, whether in Europe or elsewhere in the world.
Chairman of Gwynedd Council, Councillor Selwyn Griffiths said: “Everyone is welcome to attend this service at Neuadd Reichel, and join thousands of people across the world to honour the past and build a safer, fairer world.”
Mr Wyn Thomas, Pro Vice-Chancellor at the University, added: “The University is honoured to be hosting such an important event as the annual Holocaust Memorial Day commemoration.”
The service will be held at Neuadd Reichel, Bangor University at 10.30am on Friday, 25 January 2013.
