The Leader of Flintshire County Council, Cllr. Aaron Shotton recently met new Council apprentices attending a staff induction course at Coleg Cambria, Northop Campus.
Each year a number of apprentices are recruited to work in departments across the Council. The apprentices usually attend Coleg Cambria on a day release basis over 2-3 years whilst receiving training and assessment in the workplace. Apprenticeships give people of all ages the opportunity to gain qualifications whilst building their practical skills and experience in the workplace.
Flintshire County Council have also been announced as only one of three finalists in the prestigious Apprenticeship Awards Cymru. The Awards recognise and reward the commitment, hard work, achievements and success of organisations who value Apprenticeship programmes. The Council are the only public sector organisation to be announced as finalists in their category.
Leader of the Council, Councillor Aaron Shotton, said:
“The development and creation of apprenticeships is a key priority for the Council and I am delighted to welcome the council’s new apprentices.
“As a Council we want to continue to provide opportunities for people of all ages to gain qualifications whilst building practical skills and experience in the workplace and we are very proud of the Flintshire apprentice scheme.
