Loggerheads Green Flag Award

denbighshireLoggerheads Country Park has achieved the Green Flag Award for the fourth year running.

The Green Flag Award is presented to the best parks and green spaces in the country.  The scheme sets the National standard in which parks are evaluated.   The award sets a benchmark of excellence and encourages local authorities to strive towards the achievement, helping to improve and promote the countryside.

The award was applied for in January, followed by vigorous assessment using eight key criteria for different domains of the park.  The categories assessed health and safety, cleanliness, marketing, tourism, sustainable management and how the Park fits into Regional strategies.

This is the fourth year Loggerheads had applied for and achieved the award, showcasing its continuous high standards and gaining well-deserved recognition for their hard work and dedication to the countryside and the public.

Loggerheads is the gateway to Denbighshire and is situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.  The park parallels its setting with its excellent environmental standards.

David Shiel, Countryside Services, said: “The Green Flag is a great award to have and it shows the importance of the park.  It is the most visited site in Denbighshire, welcoming 200,000 visitors each year.  It is often the first visit to both Denbighshire and the countryside for many people, showing Loggerheads is more than just a park”.
