A5 Hendre Arddwyfaen rock cutting and safety fencing works

WAGEssential safety works on the A5 at Hendre Arddwyfaen, east of Cerrigydrudion, will begin in the New Year to repair fencing and improve the road alignment.

The works are due to start on Monday 11 January 2010 and will take around 12 weeks to complete. The £1 million contract for the works is being carried out by Jones Bros and is being supervised by the Welsh Assembly Government.

A section of the A5 will need to be closed for four weeks while the work is carried out.

Alternative routes will be signed accordingly. For vehicles travelling from South Wales and the Midlands advance notification of alternative routes will be given at the A5 Halton Roundabout and for vehicles travelling from the west signs will be located at Llandegai Interchange (junction 5) on the A55 Chester to Holyhead road.

To minimise the duration of the disruption caused by the road closure, the works will be carried out in multiple shifts to extend the working day.
