Commenting on the announcement made this week (1st October) by Powys County Council’s Cabinet to keep Llandinam County Primary school open, Montgomeryshire AM, Russell George said:
“This is fantastic news.
“The parents and community have campaigned extremely hard for this decision and they deserve huge credit for not giving in.
“All they wanted to do was have a fair hearing and be allowed to put their case to Powys Council.
“The community have always stated that this is a very good school and I believe the recent Estyn report which backed up that claim, proved pivotal and changed the game.
“What I think is important now to build confidence in the long-term viability of the school, is for Powys Council to confirm that there will be no further review of the school in the foreseeable future.
“This will ensure there is stability for pupils, parents and staff and it will allow it to grow with out fear of any impending action.”
