William Powell AM, Welsh Liberal Democrat Member for Mid and West Wales, has this week accepted a petition from Aberystwyth residents calling on the Welsh Government to make Day Centres for the elderly a statutory requirement for all of Wales.
William Powell AM, Chair of the National Assembly’s Petitions Committee, said:
“The experience of corresponding with Aberystwyth residents regarding the local provision of Day Centre services and the problematic relocation to the former Town Hall basement has highlighted to the Committee the importance of Day Centre provision in Wales.
“It is for this reason that I was very happy to accept this petition, from many of the same Aberystwyth residents, calling on the Welsh Government to make Day Centre services for the elderly a statutory requirement across all Welsh local authorities.
“I look forward to working with Committee collogues in considering this petition over the coming months.”
