A meeting has taken place amongst local public representatives and Network Rail officials to attempt to find a solution to long standing safety issues surrounding Stansty Bridge in Rhosddu.
Wrexham Assembly Member Lesley Griffiths arranged for the key individuals involved to meet at the Guildhall to develop a plan of action and discuss their options.
The problematic, narrow road, an important route for local motorists travelling in and around the town centre, has been deliberated for years. In 2012, Wrexham Council trailed a one-way system under the bridge but this was ultimately scrapped after a backlash from local residents and motorists who were unhappy with the additional traffic issues it caused.
After attending the meeting, Wrexham AM Lesley Griffiths commented:
“Constituents have contacted me over the years regarding the on-going issues at the Stansty Bridge so I arranged for representatives from the relevant groups and organisations to meet and discuss the situation.”
“The one-way system introduced last year was a positive, well-intended effort by the Council to alleviate the traffic issues but unfortunately, the scheme proved to be unpopular.”
“I was grateful to the Network Rail officials who attended the meeting for their insight. Many good ideas were raised and I believe it is vital talks continue between the necessary groups to attempt to find a satisfactory solution once and for all.”
