A number of sports clubs and institutions in Gwynedd have received financial support worth a total of £8,488.97 thanks to Gwynedd Community Chest.
In times of endless financial cuts, the boost from the community chest will allow ten sports institutions to develop and improve equipment and staff. From sailing to hockey, the Community Chest supports a wide range of sports institutions across the county.
Councillor Eryl Jones Williams who is a member of the Gwynedd Community Chest panel, said:
“Sports clubs play a vital role in our communities and it’s important that they receive all the support possible. It’s great to see that money from the Gwynedd Community Chest continues to help so many sports clubs and institutions here in Gwynedd.
“Not only do they promote fitness and improve health, but also joining a sports club gives you the chance to meet new people and to socialise. The funding boost from the chest will strengthen the clubs and the hope is that new members will be keen to join.”
Ten clubs and institutions have been successful this time:
Llŷn Cycling Club – The club will use the funding for four members to go on training and first aid courses.
Dysynni Hockey Club – The funding will allow five members to go on a level one hockey course.
Tai Chi Therapy – Application for the instructor from the Harlech based club to update their instructor certificate and to keep up to date with the latest health findings.
Bangor Rugby Club – The club received funding to send members on various courses including a refereeing course and first aid.
Y Ffor Bowling Club – They plan to use the funding to buy a new bowling mat and other equipment.
Bethel Youth Football Club – The club plan to use the funding to send coaches on first aid, child welfare and football leaders courses.
Penrhyndeudraeth Junior Football Club – Funding will go to pay for a new goal and net as well as paying for courses for coaches and volunteers.
Felinheli Sailing Club – They plan to use the funding to pay for training and equipment.
Bro Ffestiniog Youth Club – Funding will go towards facility hire and to pay for a dance instructor for new dance club for the area’s young people.
Dolgellau Cricket Club – They plant to establish a under 13 junior section and funding will go towards coach education and equipment costs.
