A busy weekend for Beaumaris Lifeboat Station

The volunteer crew of Beaumaris Lifeboat Station were called out on service three times between Friday and Saturday.

The lifeboat crew were called out on Friday 25 June, at 7:25pm to a 21ft cruiser with fuel problems on the Menai Strait before Puffin Island. The boat was towed back to Beaumaris were it was left on a mooring off the Pier and the two male crew on board were taken ashore.

At 8:14pm on Friday night, the crew responded to an incident involving a person reporting to be a potential jumper off one of the Bridges. En route to the scene, the Lifeboat was stood down.

The volunteer crew were out again on service on Saturday afternoon at 5:20pm to assist a passenger boat off Puffin Island with a rope caught round its propeller. Simon Bunting, Senior Helm at Beaumaris Lifeboat Station went into the water and managed to free the rope which was attached to a lobster pot.

The Passenger Boat was able to continue its journey while the lifeboat returned to the Station and was washed down, refuelled and ready for active service again at 6:15pm.
